Acceptable use policy
Effective 2026-10-01. Part of the Terms of service.
Your server is yours, and so is the responsibility for what happens on it. These are the lines.
Do not
- Use the service for anything unlawful where you are or where we are.
- Put export-controlled, classified or controlled unclassified information on it. That includes ITAR technical data and CUI. This is a commercial service on commercial cloud hosting; it is not accredited for any of that and never will be presented as such.
- Attack anyone from it, or attack it: no scanning, flooding, intrusion attempts, malware distribution or credential stuffing. Security testing of your own server is fine; tell us first.
- Use it to track or surveil people who have not agreed to be tracked, or in breach of a court order or a privacy law.
- Resell access to your server as a service to third parties without an agreement with us.
- Work around plan limits, the fair-use video allowance (1 TB a month) or the user cap. Going over the user cap does not cut you off; it shows a notice. Deliberately defeating the metering does.
- Send spam or abusive messages through the chat or any part of the service.
- Share one person's account between people. Each user gets their own.
What we do about it
If we see or are told about a breach, we pause the server (connections drop, data stays) and email you. Most issues get cleared up by email. Serious or repeated breaches end the service. If someone is being harmed, we act first and email second. We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and will tell you we did unless the law forbids it.
Reporting abuse
Email [email protected] with the server name and what you saw.
